Analysis for the month of October

This time I provided few questions to the students about the learnt topic. The questions were given through ‘we chat’ where the children can download the questions, write the answer and send back. In fact this time I have given the questions to let the children browse answer from the net and write the answers. I instructed them to browse the answer from the net.

I had taught the students how to use the dictionary from their smart phone also. I also taught them how to browse the website google. I teach them how to browse Google in the phones and find out the meanings of the unknown words. I taught them the steps how to browse the google. Example: I ask if they see an icon Google and then let them open that first. Then I taught them to type the unknown words in the box and search. They were really surprised and excited to see many more examples and definition. For few of them it was not new and for most of them they were doing it for the first time and this is where I felt, I and my children achieved something very important and resourceful for my children.

I found my children were excited to know how to browse the net. I told them if they do not know the meaning and definition of the words then, they can always browse from the google. I asked them to get help from the google or any information they wanted to know about the lesson. They were very positive about it and even the ones who were new to this ideas, I said them to ask to me if they needed further help. In the given task, they did very well and I found my children were very much interested to use the ICT for the lesson.

Some of the challenges are few children are slow learner so they were not able to cope up with the new technology. Even then they are trying their best to adjust on it. Moreover, children learnt better compared to the normal teaching. The ICT integration the lesson proved to be very enriching and insightful which lead the children to be interactive and encourage students to express freely thereby promoting thinking skills.

Thanking You.

ICT Reflection for the month of September 2020.

Considering the present situation, I have to teach and lecture online to my students. In fact all school in our country suspended in-class instruction due to the coronavirus pandemic. In maximum frequency I took online classes for the class four to six grades. Based on my experience I could say that online instruction has real value in some settings. We the teachers has the interaction with the children and has interactive classes. It also provides the learners to explore knowledge beyond the classroom settings.

I could say that online teaching works well and has good discussion, especially if everyone is motivated and prepared. If there are 10-12 students or fewer, it’s fairly easy to keep track of everyone and has good interaction as in person. By contrast, things are tougher with the large number of learners. In large number of learners it is hard to gauge how more than a small fraction of learner is reacting to you, and also hard to manage the discussion. Effective instruction often depends on maintaining the learners and being able to gauge how well the learner are absorbing what the teacher has taught. Sometimes I also did the lecture followed by questions approach, which makes things easier. Even so, lack of eye contact with most of the learners made it hard to gauge things. And managing the questions was harder than it would be in a classroom.

Another thing I could say is, students have bit trouble interacting with each other when they can’t see more than a fraction of classmates at once. That, too, is an impediment to effective discussion. But, later in future when the teachers and students are familiar with this current situation then I think there won’t be any issues in the teaching process. Some of these problems will be diminished as people get more used to the systems. The online teaching may be more effective in future when students and faculty have more time to prepare for it.

However, the students often have great difficulties to propose their own solutions. Even though till now maximum of the students are familiar with the system and few of them are really doing good.  Of course, the problem that many students do not attend my lecture and classes due to the lack of materials. Some of them were not able to afford the materials that is used in the online teaching. So, to support these students for their learning the teachers used to visit their house once a week to deliver door to door teaching.

ICT Reflection

ICT Stands for "Information and Communication Technologies." ICT refers to technologies that provide access to information through telecommunications. It is similar to Information Technology (IT), but focuses primarily on communication technologies. This includes the Internet, wireless networks, cell phones, and other communication mediums. In this 21st century ICT has great impact in every field such as for teacher it help in delivering the lesson through different mode. It also helps student to learn better using different mode of communication. Information and communication technologies have provided society with a vast array of new communication capabilities.

ICT helps people to communicate in real-time with others in different countries using technologies such as instant messaging, voice over IP (VoIP), video-conferencing and many others. Social networking websites like Facebook, we chat, telegram allows users from all over the world to remain in contact and communicate on a regular basis. Information and communication Technology (ICT), in the education sector plays an important role, especially in the process of empowering the technology into the educational activities.

Back to our current situation, ICT is fully used to have teaching and learning process as normal teaching. Nowadays, to have the teaching and learning process in line, we are using Google classroom teaching. To have the Goggle classroom teaching we are using Television, mobiles and even radios. In this type of teaching the students are fully engage and can able to find out the solution of the problems by themselves. In fact teaching and learning process is happening in our own home itself. This helps our student to explore, solving problems, increase learner’s motivation and engagement and facilitating the acquisition of basic skills.

Considering the current situation, I am using we chat and telegram to have communication and teaching learning.  In my locality maximum student are not accessible with BBS. So, I am visiting their house once a week to have teaching but maximum information are deliver through we chat and telegram. And by now the students are aware of using smart phones and also they started solving their problems by using ICT.  So, lastly I could say that ICT is very important and plays a vital role in teaching and learning process.
